Here is a jam session that I had with the noted Moroccan gimbri player, Brahim el Belkani , in the inner courtyard of my house during the summer of '77. He plays gimbri and then accompanies me on drum while I do variations of Hamza ad Din and my own Sudanese variations on the oud. Brahim is exploring traditional melodies and rhythms that are often used to induce trance in others. I did this long before he worked with Led Zeppelin.
