Geoffrey Clarfield and Brahim el Belkani: Jam Session - Marrakech, Summer 1977

Here is a jam session that I had with the noted Moroccan gimbri player, Brahim el Belkani, in the inner courtyard of my house during the summer of '77. He plays gimbri and then accompanies me on drum while I do variations of Hamza ad Din and my own Sudanese variations on the oud. Brahim is exploring traditional melodies and rhythms that are often used to induce trance in others.

I did this long before he worked with Led Zeppelin.
