I Can See The Mountains From The Plain
Sometimes when it’s late at night and rainin'
Sometimes it gets cool in early Fall
Sometimes I can see the light that’s fadin'
Sometimes I don’t know myself at all
Take me to a place where light is shinin'
Take me to that place where there’s no pain
I only know the horse that I’ve been ridin'
Cause I can see the mountains from the plain
Consider all the workers in their labour
Consider all the cowboys on the range
They still use the moon and sun to guide them
They don’t leave the stricken or the lame
Take me to that place where light is shinin'
Take me to that place where there’s no pain
I only know the horse that I’ve been ridin'
I can see the mountains from the plain
I have spent my life in open pastures
I am neither fish nor am I fowl
I have lived the life that I searched after
And I protect the weak from those who prowl
So watch the moon and see the stars of Jacob
As I rest my head beside the cooling stone
Know for every time there is a season
Know that we weren’t made to live alone
Sometimes when I hear the river’s water
Sometimes it sounds far when it is near
Know that we have loved and we have offered
Only all those things that we could change
So take me to a place where light is shinin'
Take me to that place where there’s no pain
I only know the horse that I’ve been ridin'
I can see the mountain from the plain
I can see the mountains from the plain
I can see the mountains from the plain
